The English Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), triple Formula One world champion, who this Monday marked the second time in the first day of pre-season training, at the Barcelona Montmeló circuit, said that he hopes “that the Ferraris are up”, because that “will be exciting.”
“It is very good to be here again and I am glad that I still know how to drive,” joked the Englishman after the first day of pre-season training.
“The car has been sensational, very similar to last year, which is very good,” explained Hamilton, 31, world champion in 2008, with McLaren, and the past two seasons, with his current team.
“The key is to ride as many kilometers as possible in the short time we have to do tests; and in that sense we have had a fantastic start, “said Lewis, winner of 43 Grands Prix, the third best mark in the entire history of Formula One.
“Every season you have to accept that you have the toughest competition ahead of you so far and that is how I deal with it,” said Hamilton, who has started from pole in 49 Grands Prix.
“I hope the Ferraris are up there with me and (the German) Nico (Rosberg, his partner), because that will be exciting for the fans and also for me,” said Hamilton on Monday in Montmeló. EFE
