Hamilton wins the Mexican Grand Prix

British driver Lewis Hamilton of the Mercedes team won the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix, held at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in the Mexican capital, but could not achieve his sixth world title.

Hamilton finished ahead of German Sebastien Vettel (Ferrari) and Finn Valteri Bottas (Mercedes), who kept the fight for the World Drivers’ Championship alive by taking 74 points behind the lead.

After the 18th race of the season, Hamilton leads the standings with 363 points followed by Bottas, who has 289, and with a calendar that still has 78 points to distribute in three GPs: United States, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton achieved victory number 83 of his career and second in Mexico, the previous one was in 2016.
