The president of the Honduran Boxing Federation, Godofredo Fajardo, was concerned about the current situation in this sporting discipline, mentioning that it is bankrupt due to the lack of support and at the same time denouncing that many journalists want to extort the box office of the evenings .
Fajardo explained that there are several points that this sport has on the canvas and that it is a sadness because it is the second most accepted sport in Hondurans.
“We hope that everything is momentary and that boxing will soon be reactivated, since it is the second sport in the country, but this sport is currently bankrupt,” said the head of Fehdebox.
“Some sponsors have withdrawn from us, to give a percentage of almost 60, claiming that they have reduced their advertising expenses, another point is that the television stations do not want to pay for broadcasting rights, they want to broadcast an event for free that costs 300 thousand lempiras for its assembly ”, he added.
“It is not possible that the television stations treat a boxing evening in the same way as normal news, for example they want to broadcast the fights as if it were the coverage of a dead person, only sending to cover and now, and they do not know that the entire assembly costs a lot of money”.
EXTORTION
Another point that Fajardo highlighted so that Honduran boxing is bankrupt is the extortion of some journalists with the box office of the fights, something that he described as painful and unethical.
“There is a veto in the media with the coverage of boxing, many journalists seek to extort money from the box office. They are bad journalists who want to bankrupt us, ”added Fajardo.
When consulting the leader for the names of the chroniclers who ask him for money, he said that he will not give names for safety and for the spirit of solidarity.
“I will not give names, nor will I denounce them with their directors to avoid, it is similar to what the New York Time journalist said, who declared that in Honduras journalists are charged, he did not give names to avoid more problems,” he explained.
“There is a veto of journalists, we have no one to cover a story for us, to motivate the boys who train daily with a publication, all of this is unfair and rude, for these boys who seek to prosper, succeed and raise their names from Honduras”.
MINISTERS GO TO BOXING
Fajardo also said that boxing has had the back of a certain part of the government, since several ministers who do not want it have it vetoed and they take boxers to meet.
“We do not complain about President Juan Orlando Hernández, but we do complain about some ministers who, for hurting me, take away the boys who train hard in the gym every day.”
AUDIT
The boxing leader said that he has received a lot of criticism for the money from the boxing evenings he has done, and that he is willing to have an audit done so that they see that everything is done with transparency
“I am willing to audit me and see if there are high profits, they are minimal, we ask before doing an event to get the money and cover the expenses and not lose,” he concluded.
