Honduras in fifth place in the Davis Cup

The Honduran team defeated its counterpart from the Bahamas 3-0 in the last Davis Cup match held at the Costa Rica Country Club in the city of Escazú and placed fifth in group III American Zone.

The catrachos began the tournament by winning the first three games against Bermuda, Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba, but then lost to Panama and Jamaica.

The national team was going for promotion to Group II, but the two defeats prevented entering the semifinals, but their presentation was decorous with four wins.

In Friday’s game against Jamaica Jaime Bendeck fell to Rowland Phillips 4-6 and 1-6 and Alejandro Obando could not against Jacob Bicneall 6-1, 4-6 and 3-6; doubles Keny Turcios with Gabriel Zúñiga beat Dimitri Bird / Dominicv Pagon 4-6, 61 and 6-4.
