Italian Cairoli achieves his seventh MXGP world title

The Italian Antonio Cairoli (KTM) has certified this Sunday in Assen (Netherlands) his seventh world title in the premier class of motocross (MXGP).

Cairoli, who had also been a two-time MX2 champion, was second in the first race at the Dutch GP after local Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) and sixth in the second, in which the ‘oranje’ rider won again.

In this way, in the absence of the French Grand Prix, Cairoli has secured the title with 710 points, since Herlings, second overall, has 627, and Gautier Paulin (Husqvarna) is third with 571.

The Spanish José Antonio Butrón lived a black weekend, because as he explained on social networks four weeks ago in Switzerland he fractured his fibula and was diagnosed with a sprain.
