Japanese Kimura snatches WBO title from Chinese Zou Shiming

Japan’s Sho Kimura won the World Boxing Organization (WBO) flyweight title in Shanghai after beating Chinese star and belt defender Zou Shiming by KO in the eleventh round.

It was the first time that Zou Shiming had put the title on the line since winning it last year in Las Vegas.

The Chinese fighter ended in tears, at 36, in a defeat that could mark the end of his brilliant career, which includes two Olympic golds and three world amateur boxing titles, before turning professional.

The 28-year-old Kimura adds this victory to a record where he has achieved 15 victories, by one null and two defeats. AFP
