Despite having a considerably acceptable start in the league, where they scored seven points in the first three games, the tough defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League once again highlighted the sporting problems that lie ahead for FC Barcelona this season.
As if that were not enough, the Barça club also showed some internal conflicts between its president Joan Laporta and coach Ronald Koeman, who in the last week launched a comment that went around the world: “My relationship with Laporta has improved, but the Something happened last week that I think… is not right. I was suggesting that the coach doesn’t have all the power. He talked too much, “he said in dialogue with the NOS channel in his country.
With the intention of going out to clarify things, the president of the entity himself was the one who spoke in the previous duel for the Champions League that finally the team lost to the Teutons: “My relationship is good, you do not have to look for anything plus”.
When it seemed that everything had been settled, the defeat of the German team on the first date of the group stage of the European championship once again set off the alarms, not only in sports (with Pedri and Jordi Alba joining the injured list), but also institutional, according to the Catalan newspaper Sport.
“Koeman plays it in the next three games”, the media in question titled to summarize the situation in which the Dutch coach is standing, ensuring that, after his words to reconcile peace, now the top manager would give him a reasonable deadline to change the dynamics of the campus.
It is worth remembering that the arrival of Koeman to the Blaugrana cast was in 2019 by decision of Josep Maria Bartomeu, who was then the president. After the inauguration of Laporta, there were some meetings between the two to define their situation, in which finally, after several twists and turns, their continuity was confirmed until the end of their contract (2022), pending the sporting results.
“Hello culés. I am as hurt and outraged as all of you. What is happening is one of the scenarios that we already contemplated. I ask you to be patient and to continue giving support to the team ”, was Laporta’s last message through a video that he published on his Twitter account.
In this context, Ronald Koeman will be in the spotlight with the three games to come in less than seven days. On Monday they will face Granada, on Thursday with Cádiz and on Sunday with Levante. If he does not play a good role in these duels, which are accessible a priori, the Dutchman’s present would begin to take risks.
A missatge to all the barcelonisme: trust and support to the team. Not in tingueu cap dubte, ho solcionarem. Visit Barça! pic.twitter.com/xwFur9ls7b
