Josh Hader, fastest pitcher to hit 400 strikeouts

Brewers flamethrower Josh Hader became the fastest pitcher to hit 400 strikeouts when he retired Marlins outfielder Corey Dickerson.

Hader got all three outs in the ninth by striking out to seal Milwaukee’s victory in Game 2 of the series against Miami. The left-hander accomplished the feat in just 234.2 episodes, surpassing the mark Craig Kimbrel had set (236) in 2014.

For Hader the achievement is quite valuable.

“Many have been part of this game that they have been figures and that I grew up watching,” Hader stated. “It’s quite special that I’m in a position to pitch at this level and break a record like that.”

After Kimbrel, the other fastest to hit 400 strikeouts are Cuban Aroldis Chapman (237.2 innings) and Puerto Rican Edwin Díaz (249).

Hader is off to a great start to the 2021 campaign. He has a 0.77 ERA with seven saves in 12 appearances. (GG) (MLB in Spanish)
