The Polish Robert Kubica will drive, together with the Canadian Nicholas Lafiti, the Renault RS17 in the tests that will take place on August 2 after the Hungarian Grand Prix, the team confirmed this Monday through a statement.
The 32-year-old has pre-tested in Valencia and Paul Ricard this year, so the team decided to give him the opportunity to get behind the wheel again for the RS17 tests.
According to Cyril Abiteboul, Renault CEO, the first two days of testing allowed both Robert and the team to “collect a large amount of information” and assured that the next session at the Hungaroring circuit will allow obtaining “detailed and accurate data” in a current car and in representative condition ”.
This will be a new opportunity for Kubica to show the team leaders that, despite the physical limitations that he has in his right arm due to the accident suffered in 2011, he could still return to the top category of the motoring world. EFE.
