‘La Loba’ Muñoz challenges the super fly world champion ‘Lupita’ Martínez

‘La Loba’ Muñoz challenges the super fly world champion ‘Lupita’ Martínez
The Mexican Zulina ‘la Loba’ Muñoz today challenged the world champion of super flyweight of the World Council of Boxing (WBC), Guadalupe ‘Lupita’ Martínez, whom he is looking to face in a rematch this year.
“He beat me well, four years of champion with 10 defenses are over and now I want revenge,” Muñoz told reporters when referring to the fight lost with Martinez last month in which he handed over the belt of his division.
During a meeting with the WBC media, Muñoz greeted Martínez with a kiss, but half an hour later he assumed the pose of an injured fighter and announced the decision to prepare to beat his rival when they give him the possibility of revenge.
With 48 victories, two draws and two defeats, ‘la Loba’ has been one of the best Mexican boxers in recent years and last May 13 she came out as a favorite to retain the world title against Martínez but saw a streak of 25 wins broken followed by an opponent who surprised her by dominating with cleanliness.
“A new stage begins in which they are going to see the Zulina that they are used to,” he said.
Martínez, 25, waited for her challenger to express herself and said she was ready to fight, but recalled that her job is to train and it will be her team that will say when the fight can be.
“Go ahead, I do not want to show myself too much but that night of the fight I grew up and I know that I will grow more,” said the fighter, who trains in Tlalnepantla, state of Mexico, directed by coach Juan Carlos Contreras.
When responding to Zulina Muñoz, coach Contreras recalled that now his student is the world champion and has the possibility to decide the conditions and the date of the duel, as long as it is after Martinez’s first defense, scheduled for August.
The possible Martínez-Muñoz lawsuit may be one of the best in the women’s boxing of the World Council of Boxing in the second half of the year, however, there are still no pronouncements from the promoters and the negotiation is still pending for it to be carried out.
“Lupita has no problem fighting,” Contreras insisted. EFE
