Lewis Hamilton wins his sixth Formula 1 championship

Briton Lewis Hamilton, from the Mercedes team, won his sixth Formula 1 championship by finishing second at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

Hamilton thus remains one title out of the seven held by German Michael Schumacher, the rider with the most championships in history.

The 34-year-old Briton qualified behind his teammate Valtteri Bottas in the 19th race of the season to add another championship to those already won in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.

He couldn’t believe it. Thank you for everything, “said Hamilton on the radio to the team members after crossing the finish line and overcoming the five championships of Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio.
