Frenchman Sébastien Loeb (Peugeot) won his second stage in the Dakar Rally car category, the fifth overall of the event, which took place between Moquega and Arequipa, in Peru.
Loeb, who finished the 776-kilometer (345 timed) course with a time of 4 hours, 56 minutes and 34 seconds, took more than 10 minutes from the leader of the general classification, Qatari Nasser al-Attiyah (Toyota), who was He remains first in the race, 24 minutes and 42 seconds ahead of fellow Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel.
Spaniard Nani Roma was third on the stage, ahead of Peterhansel and Pole Jakub Przygonski.
Nine-time world rally champion, Loeb aims to win his first Dakar and is currently fifth overall, 40 minutes behind Attiyah, after also scoring the second stage last Tuesday.
On Saturday, the Dakar will have a rest day. The race restarts on Sunday, starting from Arequipa to San Juan de Marcona for 810 kilometers, 290 of them timed.
