Major League Baseball announces sanctions on Machado and Ventura for brawl on the field

Major League Baseball announced on Thursday the sanctions against Dominican pitcher Yordano Ventura, of the Kansas City Royal champions, and Dominican-American Manny Machado, of the Baltimroe Orioles, for the brawl they staged in the fifth inning of Tuesday night’s game at Oriol Park.
The match was won by the Oropendolas with a wide score of 9×1.
Ventura received a nine-game suspension for intentionally hitting Machado with a pitch and then getting into a fight.
Machado, meanwhile, received a four-game suspension for rushing to the mound and starting the brawl by punching Ventura in the face.
Both players were also fined financially for their role in the fight, which emptied both benches.
The suspensions will take effect at each team’s next game: for Machado on Thursday and for Ventura on Friday. Both Ventura and Machado are expected to appeal their sanctions.
