MotoGP world champion Marc Márquez has once again got on a motorcycle for the first time after his shoulder surgery in early December with a view to the first official tests starting on February 6 in Malaysia.
Márquez “this week he put on his jumpsuit again to once again enjoy one of his great passions: riding a motorcycle,” the Repsol-Honda team announced in a statement, which is accompanied by a video in which the rider can be seen giving a few laps on the Alcarrás circuit, in Lleida (northeast of Spain).
“First contact with the bike,” says the five-time MotoGP world champion (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018) in the video.
«We have done a few laps that have served to see where it bothers me a little more, for this week we have ‘physio’ to work on it. And what force awaited me, when braking, especially on the left, when I have to support my left shoulder, that’s where we have to continue working, “explained Márquez.
The Spaniard had not gotten on a motorcycle since November 2018 when he participated in the last tests of the year in Jerez de la Frontera.
Having surgery on his left shoulder on December 4, Márquez has been on the mend ever since.
“It has been the most boring winter of my life,” said the Spanish rider last week at the presentation of the Repsol-Honda team.
Márquez will now test himself in official training sessions at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia from February 6 to 8, before returning to race in the Qatar tests at the end of the month, which will lead to the first Grand Prix of the season in that country from March 1 to 3.
But now “patience in Malaysia and reaching full March,” concluded Márquez. AFP
