Marc Márquez wins the GP of the Americas for the fifth year in a row

The Spanish Marc Márquez (Honda) won for the fifth consecutive year the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas, the third stop of the MotoGP World Championship, raced in Austin (Texas).
Márquez, three-time world champion in the premier class, beat Italian Valentino Rossi (Yamaha), by 3.069 / 1000 seconds ahead, and his teammate and compatriot Dani Pedrosa, third at 5.112 / 1000 seconds.
Márquez revived after a disappointing start to the season by finishing fourth in Qatar and dropping out in Argentina, and he proved to be the ‘Boss’ at a circuit where he has always been in command, since the inaugural race in 2013.
The day before he had achieved pole position, as in the previous four years, but this victory, the 30th in MotoGP, was not easy at all, as he himself confessed.
“It was a tough race, I had to stay calm, but I’m happy because after Argentina I was very far away, but it worked well and I’m in the fight,” said Márquez, who remains undefeated in the United States with a total of nine victories. in MotoGP at the Austin, Indianapolis and Laguna Seca circuits.
Spaniard Maverick Viñales (Yamaha), who started the season perfectly with his wins in the first two races, dropped out on the third lap after crashing.
Viñales’ abandonment allowed Italian veteran Valentino Rossi to climb to the top of the general classification with 56 points, six more than the Spanish, while Márquez is third with 38 points.
