Italian midfielder for Paris SG Marco Verratti suffers “a profound injury to the oblique muscles” in the hip area and will be out for four weeks, his club announced.
Presumably he will not be able to play the next two matches for the Italian team qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, at home against Switzerland on November 12 and then in Northern Ireland on November 15. His participation in PSG’s game against Manchester City in the Champions League, on 24 November at the Etihad Stadium, is also in doubt.
Verratti was injured in a clash during last Sunday’s game against Olympique Marseille (0-0) in Ligue 1, and had to be substituted before the break.
As for the Spanish central Sergio Ramos, who has not yet made his debut with PSG, the recovery program “is evolving very well”, and his return to the group could take place “next week”, reported the Parisian club.
Argentine midfielder Leonardo Paredes, injured in his left thigh, is scheduled to return to competition “after the next international break” in November, PSG said. AFP (HN)
