Markelle Fultz will miss the remainder of the season

Another devastating news for Markelle Fultz and the Orlando Magic. When it seemed that the young guard’s career was heading, after struggling with several injuries, a new blow comes for Fultz. And, as the team has announced, the player has suffered a torn left anterior cruciate ligament in Wednesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and will miss the rest of the 2020-21 season.

The tragic play that led to the injury was a tackle by Fultz, who fell to the ground when he planted his left leg. The point guard remained lying on the parquet with clear signs of pain that alerted everyone present, and to go to the locker room he needed assistance since he could not put pressure on his leg.

Since being acquired at the 2019 trade deadline, Fultz has earned his starting point as point guard for the Magic. This season he was averaging a career-high 14.3 points per game, and he had all of Orlando excited about it. Now the blow is devastating for a franchise that just extended his three-year, $ 50 million deal.

Fultz has dealt with knee problems in the past, but the injury that ruined his first two NBA seasons was to his shoulder. This caused him problems in shooting, although due to his great athleticism and ball handling, he was able to find other ways to maintain his productivity.
