Márquez consolidates his leadership of the World Cup

Spaniard Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda RC 213 V) consolidates his leadership of the MotoGP World Championship by adding his second consecutive win of the year and his fourth at the North American circuit in Austin.
Márquez adds 66 points in the provisional table of the championship, by the 45 of Jorge Lorenzo, who finished second, while the Italian Valentino Rossi lost that position by failing to score in Austin after suffering a fall and is now third with 33, five more than Pol Espargaró (Yamaha YZR M 1), who benefited from the race incidents to finish the American race seventh.
Among the many statistics that Marc Márquez surpasses, his victory in Austin represents the fifty-second of his sporting career, thus surpassing Dani Pedrosa, and the twenty-sixth in the premier class, one ahead of a motorcycling myth like the American Kevin Schwantz, who was witnessing it.
As soon as the red light went off, the Repsol Honda rider came out like an exhalation to take the lead, pursued by the two Yamaha riders, the Spanish Jorge Lorenzo and the Italian Valentino Rossi, although both of them slipped during the first lap losing several positions.
Rossi tried to make up lost ground but ended up making a mistake in the second corner that forced him to retreat, while Marquez set a fast lap on the second lap pursued by Dovizioso.
Since Aragon in 2014, the Italian had managed to finish all the races and although his mechanics prepared the second bike, the nine-time world champion did not return to the track.
In just five laps the Repsol rider already had an advantage of more than two seconds and Jorge Lorenzo managed to overtake Dovizioso to place second.
Once again, for the second race in a row and through no fault of his own, Andrea Dovizioso could not finish the test.
As soon as the seventh lap started, Dani Pedrosa lost control of his Repsol Honda in the uphill braking at the end of the straight and his bike hit the Italian’s, without the latter being able to do anything to avoid it.
Pedrosa tried to continue, but a few laps later he ended up taking the path of the workshops and approached that of Andrea Dovizioso to apologize.
The leading positions were in those moments very well defined, with Marc Márquez standing out, chased almost three seconds away and increasing by Jorge Lorenzo and with Andrea Iannone third at more than six seconds, while the two pilots fought for fourth place. Suzuki, Maverick Viñales and Alex Espargaró, who entered the finish line in that order.
The Spanish Alex Rins (Kalex) got his first victory of the year in Moto2 after commanding almost from the first to the last lap, ahead of the British Sam Lowes (Kalex) and the French Johann Zarco (Kalex).
In the provisional classification of the world championship there are now four drivers in a difference of as many points, as Sam Lowes is the new leader with 47 points, by 46 from Alex Rins, 45 from Johann Zarco and 43 from Thomas Luthi, who had reached United States as category leader.
The Italian Romano Fenati (KTM) added the seventh victory of his sporting career by winning in Moto3 ahead of the Spanish Jorge Navarro (Honda) and the South African Brad Binder (KTM), who beat the German Phillip Oettl (KTM) on the last lap . EFE
