Marta Brañas travels in her “best moment” to Panama for the Fedecaribe title
The Spanish champion of boxing Marta Brañas has embarked on a trip to Panama this Monday in her “best moment” to contest the Fedecaribe title against Carlota Santos next Saturday at the Veneto Casino Hotel.
The Galician, who has not competed since the beginning of December, became at the end of 2015 the first Spanish champion of boxing by beating Maribel de Sousa and this fight in Panama is taken as the preamble to be able to dispute a world championship of the WBA (World Association of Boxing).
“It is like the previous one to then make that leap to the World Cup, which is the maximum I can aspire to as an athlete, to be a world champion,” he told EFE before crossing to the other side of the Atlantic.
Brañas, who does not know defeat after nine fights, admits to being amazed by the “expectation” that the fight with Carlota Santos is generating, which will be played in eight rounds and at flyweight (50,800 kilos).
“I’m perfectly physically fit and now we are with the weight, which is the only thing that is costing us a little bit, but we get along well. I feel very strong, very well, training hard, and motivated. I am in the best moment, I am very comfortable in the ring training, “says the Galician boxer.
After taking a break at Christmas and January and “disconnecting a little from everything”, the Spanish champion has taken “energy” to face this 2017.
“This year looks strong, now with the Latino (Fedecaribe) and later with the WBA World Cup,” he indicates about a fight that for now has no date or place, although it will be in Peru or A Coruña, against the Peruvian Linda Lecca. EFE
