Mattiacci curbs complacency at Ferrari after Hungarian GP

Ferrari director Marco Mattiacci has curbed the complacency in the team after the second place of the Spanish Fernando Alonso in the Formula One Hungarian GP, points out that the success was partly due to the rain and recalls that they are still 1.2 seconds away of Mercedes.
Alonso achieved Ferrari’s best result in the 2014 World Cup in Hungary this Sunday and led the race for thirteen laps before being overtaken by Australian Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull). His teammate, Finn Kimi Raikkonen, also achieved his best result at the Hungaroring: sixth.
With these benefits, Ferrari overtook Williams in the fight for third place in the Constructors’ World Cup, behind Mercedes and Red Bull, but Mattiacci is not entirely satisfied.
“It is stimulating, but this second and sixth place should be properly weighed. The strength of the other teams was diluted due to the weather conditions and the characteristics of the circuit. It is motivating, but we have to carefully manage the enthusiasm for these places, “said Mattiacci.
“This should not distract us from our trajectory. We are not here to finish second, “he warned in statements collected by autosport.
For Mattiacci the objective must be to cancel the difference that separates them from the Mercedes. “I am pleased that Kimi has returned. He had a fantastic race, and Fernando had a fantastic race, but we are 1.2 seconds behind the leaders, which means months and maybe years of work, ”he stressed. EFE
