Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 43, will return to a ring in Tokyo in February next year, announced the organization of the fight, without specifying who will be his opponent.
This fight will be the closing of an event called ‘Mega 2021’ that will be held on February 28 at the gigantic Tokyo Dome, the promoter said in a statement.
Last week Mayweather had announced his return in a video posted on Instagram.
“Tokyo, Japan, I will be back in 2021. My team and I will do something great at the Tokyo Dome,” he said.
Unbeaten during his professional career (50 victories) the American retired at the end of 2017, but on December 31, 2018 he faced in Japan a young kickboxer, Tenshin Nasukawa, whom he defeated in two minutes.
A world champion in six different categories, Mayweather participated in and won high-profile matches against mixed martial arts (MMA) star Conor McGregor in 2017 and another boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao, in 2015. AFP (HN).
