Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather wants to leave his retirement to get into a mixed martial arts (MMA) ring, the American said in Las Vegas.
“I may return, but if I do, it will be to fight in an Octagon. Retirement is great but, as you know, I can take my retirement and get out of it, “Mayweather told the Pay-TV Showtime on the sidelines of the fight between Britain’s James DeGale and American Caleb Truax for the International Federation title of Boxing of the super middlemen.
“I have spoken about it with my environment, also with my counselor Al Haymon who said no, with Showtime and CBS since, if I return, Showtime and CBS must be involved,” he said.
Mayweather, nicknamed “Money,” made a fortune in boxing by becoming one of the greatest fighters in history with an immaculate record of 50 wins and no losses.
«If the sum of money is good, I am willing to go back, but it must be a crazy amount. I can do whatever I want, I’m Floyd Mayweather, ”insisted the one who once commented that he expected to star in a fight that would pay him a billion dollars.
The 41-year-old “Money” previously came out of retirement in August 2017 to face UFC star Conor McGregor of Ireland in Las Vegas.
Then he took the victory in the tenth round when the referee stopped the fight, in a fight that brought him more than 300 million dollars.
Since then there has been the hypothesis of a rematch but under the rules of the MMA. AFP
