Kylian Mbappé wants to play the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, as they will be held in “my city”, as indicated in a letter to the newspaper L’Equipe on the grounds that there are barely a thousand days before the start of the competition.
The French soccer star recalls that he would have liked to participate in the recent Tokyo Games, but “they cut the grass under my feet”, referring to the refusal of his club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), to let him play the tournament.
“When you see what the French teams achieved … We won in volleyball, in handball, we were finalists in basketball against the United States … I hope to live that and do the same in 2024 with a team that brings together the best players of the moment,” he adds .
Mbappé, 22, explains that he became aware of the global scope of the tournament at the 2012 London Olympics, when he was just 13 years old, and remembers that, watching competitions with great world stars, «it is at that moment that I said to myself: I also want to be. I want to experience the Paris Games ».
The star attacker of PSG and the current world champion French team, points out that he felt “as if he was destined to participate in that immense party in my city, in my country, one hundred years after” of the last summer Olympics in France . EFE
