Russian Daniil Medvedev, winner of the Masters 1000 in Paris on Sunday, rose to fourth place in the world rankings published on Monday, relegating Roger Federer to fifth place.
Medvedev equals the best qualification of his career, achieved in September 2019, after being a finalist in the US Open.
The number one is kept by Novak Djokovic, who despite his absence in Paris equaled Pete Sampras’ record as he will finish the season in honor for the sixth time.
Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem are second and third respectively.
This week the only tournament on the circuit is the modest ATP 250 in Sofia, with the participation of just one Top-20 player, Denis Shapovalov (12th).
On November 15, the eight best rackets on the circuit will meet in London to compete in the Masters that closes the course: Djokovic, Nadal, Thiem, Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Alexander Zverev and Diego Schwartzman.
