Mexican Urías opens the way for the Dodgers in a sweep of the Diamondbacks

Second baseman Mookie Betts hit a home run on Sunday and made a stellar defensive play in second base in the game that Mexican starter Julio Urías won his 13th win and the Los Angeles Dodgers shut out the Arizona Diamondbacks 13-0.

The Dodgers won two of three in the series.

Due to a sore left hip, manager Dave Roberts and Betts thought it wise to let him play second base, the position he was playing when he joined the Boston Red Sox in 2014, to reduce the strain.

The victory was credited to the Mexican starter Julio Urías (13-3), who continues to lead the Major Leagues in the victories section.

Urías (13-3) worked five full innings, allowed four hits and struck out seven en route to claiming the win.

The Mexican fired 83 shots, of which 59 traveled to the strike zone and dropped his ERA at 3.40 after facing 19 batters.

Urías is tied for first in the majors with Kyle Hendricks of the Chicago Cubs.

The loss was charged by starter Caleb Smith (3-8) in one two-thirds inning. EFE (HN)
