Mexico continues as the only leader of the Concacaf octagonal for the Qatar-2022 World Cup by beating Costa Rica 1-0 at home on the second date.
Orvelin Pineda, after 45 minutes from the penalty, gave Mexico its second win in qualifying, following a 2-1 victory over Jamaica on Thursday at home. Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas could do little to prevent his fence from falling.
On the third date, Wednesday, El Tri will visit Panama, which this Sunday beat Jamaica 3-0.
Meanwhile, Costa Rica, which adds a point in two games, will host Jamaica, the bottom row player without units in the octagonal, in San Jose, which grants three places for Qatar-2022 and the fourth the possibility of a play-off against a team from another continent. AFP (HN)
