The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) of Mexico reported that it received in extradition, from Slovenia, a man who defrauded at least 248 people with the sale of tickets for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
In a statement, the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office indicated that it received the subject in extradition, who was required by the forty-fourth criminal judge of Mexico City, “for his probable responsibility in the crime of generic fraud.”
The report included the name of Lorenzo “R”, who “is accused of being likely responsible for defrauding a travel agency by selling him tickets to attend the 2014 soccer World Cup in Brazil, which were never delivered” .
Local media pointed out that it is Lorenzo Reyes Retana, a man who at that time said he had offices in New York and who assured a travel agency that he had tickets for the Mexican team’s matches in Brazil 2014, which were never delivered.
Following the fraud, the subject fled Mexico and was a fugitive for almost seven years until he was arrested in Slovenia.
The Prosecutor’s Office pointed out that the individual was handed over at the International Airport of the city of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and he arrived on a commercial flight to Mexico City “to be made available to the judicial authority that claims him.”
On the other hand, and in compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States, the FGR also reported that on this day it delivered a man of Mexican nationality for extradition to the United States Government.
The subject was required by the Circuit Court of the eleventh judicial circuit of Miami-Dade County, in the state of Florida, to prosecute him for his probable responsibility in the crimes of homicide and attempted murder during a discussion that occurred in 1999 in the aforementioned condition.
The delivery of Alejandro “C” was made at the International Airport of Mexico City, to the US agents designated for his transfer to that country. EFE
