Miguel Cabrera implants a hit record for a Venezuelan in the Major Leagues

Slugger Miguel Cabrera drove in two runs on Wednesday to surpass compatriot Omar Vizquel with the most hits for a Venezuelan in the Major Leagues, giving the Detroit Tigers a 4 × 2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Cabrera’s two unstoppable boosters gave him 2,878 hits, one more than Vizquel, who played his last game in 2012 and was Cabrera’s coach with the Tigers from 2014 to 2017.

For the Royals it was the 10th loss in a row, the Kansas City team’s longest streak since falling 10 times in a row from March 31 to April 11, 2019.

The win went to starter Casey Mize (2-3), who allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. (GG) (AFP)
