Monegasque driver Gérard Brianti dies in rally
The Monegasque driver Gérard Brianti died today when he lost control of his vehicle and fell into the Oum Errabia river near Jenifra, in the center of the country, while participating in a rally.
According to local authorities cited by the MAP agency, Brianti, 64, and his co-driver were taking part aboard a Porsche 911 in the so-called “Historic Morocco Rally.”
The driver lost control of his vehicle and rushed over the Oum Errabia river, which is one of the largest in the country, although it has not yet reached a very large flow in that area.
Members of the rescue services jumped into the water to help the injured and managed to get the co-pilot alive, but the pilot drowned. EFE
