Muguruza will participate in the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic

Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza, current number 7 on the WTA list, confirmed her participation in the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic tournament, which will be held in San José (California, United States) between July 30 and August 5.

Muguruza, who will be the first seed of the tournament, will have to compete in the draw against the reigning champion Madison Keys, the last finalist Coco Vandeweghe, or the sisters Venus and Serena Williams.

The Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic will be Muguruza’s next appointment after having lost in the second round of Wimbledon, a tournament in which he defended the crown won in 2017.

Tournament Director Vickie Gunnarsson said she was “excited that Garbiñe chose to play in our event.” He added that: “It is incredible to think that we will have four players who have won multiple Grand Slam (Venus Williams, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka).”

The Spanish Georgina García Pérez, number 161 in the world in the individual classification, will also participate in the tournament, who will also compete in the doubles table with the Australian Priscilla Hon. EFE
