Napoli maintained the lead in Serie A thanks to their 3-0 victory over Bologna this Thursday at the close of matchday 10 of the Italian championship.
The Neapolitan team had provisionally ceded first place to AC Milan, which had beaten Torino 1-0 on Tuesday.
Milan, now second, had distanced themselves with three more points in the table and Napoli now reaches them with this victory and is put back first thanks to a better goal difference (+19 against +14).
The Spanish Fabián Ruiz (minute 18), with a shot with effect with his left foot, opened the way for the Neapolitan victory in his Diego Maradona stadium, before Lorenzo Insigne transformed two penalties (41, 62) that allowed the final sentence.
The first penalty was called by referee Marco Serra for a hand from Chilean defender Gary Medel, after a review in the VAR. The second was due to a fall in the area of Nigerian Victor Osimhen.
The Bologna is twelfth, without being able to approach the fight for the European positions.
Napoli had cut their full victories in this Serie A on Sunday when they drew 0-0 at Roma on matchday nine. In the first eight, Luciano Spalletti’s team, who had to follow Wednesday’s game from the stands due to a suspension, had won their matches.
Naples and Milan, with their 28 points, look down on their pursuers.
Inter Milan (3rd, 21 points), reigning champions, stayed within 7 points of both, winning 2-0 on Wednesday in Empoli (12th), while Roma (4th, 19 points), who he won 2-1 on Wednesday at bottom Cagliari (20th), he is nine points behind first place.
One of the biggest losers of the day is Juventus (7th, 15 points), which on Wednesday lost 2-1 at home to Sassuolo (9th) and is now off the hook 13 points behind the leaders.
Serie A will live from Saturday to Monday the 11th day, in which Naples and Milan will continue with their particular distance pulse for the leadership.
Both will play on Sunday. Napoli will visit Salernitana (19th) and Milan will have a much more thorny trip in principle, to the Olympic in the capital to face Rome.
