Nico Rosberg triumphs in Austrian GP

The leader of the Formula 1 World Championship, the German Nico Rosberg (Mercedes), prevailed today in the Austrian Grand Prix, the eighth round of the season, in front of his teammate Lewis Hamilton, at the Red Bull Ring circuit in Spielberg bei Knittelfeld.
F1Rosberg posted his third win of the year, the sixth of his F1 career, in what was the sixth 1-2 double for Mercedes cars over eight races this season.
Williams’ Finn Valtteri Bottas, 24, finished third, taking the first podium of his career, while Brazilian Felipe Massa (Williams), who had taken pole the day before, crossed the checkered flag fourth.
With this result, Rosberg took further advantage of Hamilton in the fight for the world title: 29 points (165 against 136), as the premier class approaches the middle of the season.
Despite some qualifying sessions that left some doubts yesterday, the Mercedes demonstrated today that their engines set the standard and continue to monopolize the triumphs, beyond having missed the triumph in the previous Grand Prix in Canada two weeks ago, when it was imposed Daniel Ricciardo.
Precisely, the Australian today saved the honor of Red Bull, who was competing on his track, by adding four points for his eighth place, although his team’s performance was very weak.
His teammate Sebastian Vettel, four-time world champion in the category, left prematurely due to mechanical problems.
The next two Grands Prix will be raced in July on Hamilton ground, first at Silverstone, and then on Rosberg’s ground at Hockenheim.
