OFFICIAL: Pacquiao to face Khan on April 23

The fight between the Filipino Manny Pacquiao, World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion, and the British Amir Khan will be held on April 23, the two fighters announced after three weeks of uncertainty and negotiations.
Negotiations between Pacquiao and the Khan team resulted in a fight on April 23, as the fans want. #PacquiaoKhan ”, wrote the Filipino on the social network of Twitter.
“My team and I have accepted the terms with Manny Pacquiao and his team for a super fight #pacquiaokhan # April23rd,” the Briton confirmed a few minutes later on the same social network.
Neither of the two boxers specified the place of the fight, but a source close to Pacquiao assured that it could be held in the United Arab Emirates.
After announcing that Pacquiao would face Australian Jeff Horn in Brisbane, his American promoter Bob Arum had recently told ESPN that “Manny was trying to set up a fight in the United Arab Emirates, where people would support him facing Amir Khan. ”.
On February 11 Pacquiao, 38, wrote on his Twitter account that “I will go to the UAE for my next fight” without specifying the name of his opponent.
Then the Filipino posted a list of boxers asking his fans who they wanted him to face. In addition to Horn and Khan, the possibility of voting was offered to the British Kell Brook and the American Terence Crawford. And it was Khan, 30, the opponent announced before withdrawing the vote from Pacquiao’s account.
On February 23, Pacquiao stated that he was in talks with Khan.
Manny Pacquiao reappeared on November 5, seven months after announcing his retirement after his loss in the disappointing “match of the century” against Floyd Mayweather. In the absence of an agreement for a rematch, he faced and beat Mexican-American Jesse Vargas and at the same time regained the WBO welterweight title. The Filipino has achieved 59 victories in 67 fights. (AFP)
