Ogier, leader after the second day in tough fight with Meeke

The French Sebastien Ogier (Volkswagen), champion for the last three years, leads the Monte Carlo Rally, the first round of the 2016 World Championship, after the dispute on the second day, in whose six stages he starred in a bitter fight with the British Kris Meeke (Citroen) , with whom he alternated in command.
After the dispute of the first eight stages of the race (two on Thursday and six this Friday), Sebastien Ogier leads the general with 9.1 seconds of margin over his partner the Finn Jari-Matti Latvala, who in the final stage snatched second place Meeke, who completes the provisional podium 10.3 behind the French Volkswagen.
Meeke took first place after the two stages on Thursday and remained in the lead after the two that opened the second day on Friday. Then Ogier took command in the next two stages, but the Briton got him back on the penultimate of the day.
On the closing stage of the second day, Seb Ogier returned to the lead, while Meeke gave up just over ten seconds, which Latvala took advantage of to overtake him and follow the reigning champion.
Fourth to 1: 33.8 is Volkswagen’s Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen, who is 14 seconds behind Belgian Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), his compatriot Mads Ostberg (Ford), sixth at 2:18 from the head, and Spanish Dani Sordo (Hyundai), seventh more than three minutes from the head of the race.
