OMB helps 160 Puerto Rican children with school supplies

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) will reward 160 Puerto Rican children who excel in that sport with $ 50 shopping cards to purchase school supplies for the school semester that has just begun.
This was announced this Monday in a press release by the president of the OMB, the Puerto Rican Francisco Valcárcel, who explained that this aid comes from the “Kids Drug Free” program that aims to reinforce the commitment to youth.
«Discipline in sports and education. That is what we want to instill in these children, that they practice sports, but first and foremost to stay in school “, Valcárcel emphasized.
This week, members of the WBO Executive Committee, led by Valcárcel, will visit several boxing gyms in Puerto Rico to deliver the cards to student-boxers for the purchase of school supplies.
“We have around 160 children and young boxers who will receive the card, which is a stimulus to continue their studies and become valuable members of society,” added Valcárcel about the initiative he is carrying out in more than 20 countries.
Valcárcel, who last week awarded an honorary belt from the WBO to basketball player Carmelo Anthony for his work on behalf of children as part of his Foundation, reiterated the commitment of the body he presides to work together with the athlete. EFEUSA
