Osaka breaks its title drought

Japan’s Naomi Osaka claimed her second title of the season by beating Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final of the Osaka tournament, 6-2, 6-3 in 69 minutes.

“I wanted to win this tournament,” said the Japanese when referring to the illusion that made her succeed in her hometown, after being a finalist in this same tournament when it was played in Tokyo in 2016 and 2018.

The winner of two Grand Slam titles took the tournament without giving up a single set all week. and snapped a slump, not winning a title since the Australian Open in January.

With the victory over Pavlyuchenkova in the final, Naomi avenged herself for the defeat the Russian inflicted on her at the Hong Kong tournament two years ago, where Anastasia later went on to win the title. EFE.
