The megafight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr., and Manny Pacquiao could be close to being a reality for the second time.
Oscar de la Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions, indicated during an interview broadcast by Univision that the boxers’ representatives are about to reach an agreement for the fight to take place next November. Los Angeles and Dallas are the cities considered.
“It has been a difficult negotiation for various reasons, but we are very close to finalizing the contracts. It has been a process that has been very complicated for us, ”De la Hoya commented without going into details of Mayweather, Jr.’s request that both undergo strict doping tests.
However, he hinted that it will represent profits of millions of dollars for both. It is anticipated that the fighters could split an amount of $100 million. “Both fighters have realized that this fight has to be done because the fans want it, it’s the biggest in the world,” added De La Hoya.
The fight was originally scheduled for last March, but they did not reach an agreement regarding the urine and blood tests. “We are very close to finalizing the contracts. Obviously I can’t talk about the negotiations, but we are close,” he said confidently.
