Panama defeated El Salvador 2-1 this Tuesday on the eighth day of the Concacaf World Cup, a result that allows the Canaleros to establish themselves in the top positions of the classification for the World Cup in Qatar-2022.
The goals of the duel, played at the Rommel Fernández stadium in Panama City, were scored by Jairo Henríquez (1) for El Salvador, while Cecilio Waterman (50) and Freddy Góndola (52) rallied for the canaleros.
The octagonal of the Concacaf grants for the first three classified three direct tickets for Qatar-2022, while the fourth will play a play-off against a selection from another Confederation.
With this result, Panama climbs into the third position of the table with 14 points, the same as Mexico and after the United States, which leads with 15.
Panama will play its next game against Costa Rica on January 27, 2022 in San José, while El Salvador will face the United States on that same date, also visiting. (AFP)
