Panamanian boxer Atheyna Bylon receives the flag for the Bolivarians

Olympic boxer Atheyna Bylon today received the Panamanian flag that she will carry in the opening parade of the Bolivarian Games of Santa Marta 2017, which will begin next Saturday in Colombia.

“I’m super happy. It will be a great experience to be able to carry my flag and wave it in the inaugural parade of the Bolivarian Games, “the Panamanian boxer told EFE.

He added that he had lost the opportunity to carry the flag at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2014, because he gave up by going to the World Boxing Championship in Jejú, South Korea, where he ultimately won the gold medal for Panama.

The fighter assured that the boxing delegation is motivated.

“It is a fairly well-connected group, we have been focused since March and I believe that this tournament will be the resurgence of Panamanian Olympic boxing,” said Bylon, who will compete in the 75-kilogram category.

Panama will send 184 athletes to Santa Marta who will compete in 22 disciplines: athletics, equestrian, bowling, golf, sport shooting, boxing, fencing, gymnastics, judo, wrestling, women’s softball, squash, tennis field, tennis table, triathlon, baseball, futsal, karate, weights, swimming, taekwondo and volleyball.
