Shortly before, several Brazilian media claimed that Pelé had been re-admitted to intensive care, information that was not confirmed or denied by the footballer’s environment or the hospital.
According to TV Record, Pelé had to return to the intensive care unit due to a “problem with his larynx. The ESPN Brasil channel, for its part, assured that the former footballer’s state of health is “stable”, but that he had to return to that unit as a precaution, after suffering a “gastric reflux.”
‘O Rei’, who will turn 81 on October 23, was admitted to intensive care on September 4, when he was operated on for a suspicious tumor in the colon that was detected during routine check-ups. Last Tuesday, he was transferred to a room at the Albert Einstein hospital, where he has been admitted since August 31.
After leaving the UCI, the three-time world champion (1958, 1962, 1970) posted a message on his Instagram account with a photograph in which he raises his fists and smiles.
