Pelé, encouraged from the hospital: «Pedaling like this, I will soon return to Santos»

Former Brazilian forward Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pelé’ continued with his physiotherapy sessions at the hospital, where he is admitted after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor in the colon.

The triple world champion (1958, 1962 and 1970) shared a new video on his social networks, in which, in a good mood, he is seen exercising his arms and legs by pedaling.

“Pedaling like this, I will return to Santos soon, don’t you think?” Joked the 80-year-old former striker, referring to the coastal city of Sao Paulo, home of the team where he spent 18 years of his successful sports career, between 1956 and 1974 .

In this way, the king of football wanted to share his “joy” with the fans and assured that he was “surrounded by affection and incentives to feel a little better every day.”

Pelé, considered by many the best player in history, has been admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo since last August 31, when routine examinations, which he had postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, detected a suspicious tumor in the colon.

The former striker underwent surgery on September 4 to remove this tumor and spent several days in the Intensive Care Unit, where he slowly recovered.

Although shortly after he was put on the floor, his evolution was interrupted by a “brief respiratory instability”, which is why he was transferred to semi-intensive care.

However, Pelé and his family have insisted on various messages that in recent days he has presented an improvement in his state of health, although there is still no forecast for his discharge from hospital.

Pelé’s health has deteriorated in recent years due to spinal, hip and knee problems that have significantly reduced his mobility and forced him to undergo surgery, as well as suffering from some kidney crises. EFE (HN)
