Pele looks smiling in physiotherapy session from the hospital

Former Brazilian forward Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pelé’ appeared this Saturday smiling during a physiotherapy session at the hospital where he remains admitted, after the removal of a tumor in the colon, according to a video shared by his daughter Kely.

“Today they were two steps forward,” said his daughter Kely Nascimento in a message posted on his Instagram profile and which he accompanied with a short video of the triple world champion in which he performs physiotherapy exercises.

The images were captured while ‘o Rei’, 80, exercised his legs through a series of pedaling.

At a certain point, the people around him ask him to do the same with his arms. Pelé makes the movement in his own way and immediately smiles, amid the laughter of his companions.

Kely Nascimento also shared a photograph in which a nurse shaves the Brazilian star and another snapshot of his smiling father.

“Thank you for all the love and all the messages,” said the daughter of the legendary former Santos y Cosmos player.

Pelé, considered by many the best player in history, has been admitted to the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo since last August 31, when routine examinations, which he had postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, detected a suspicious tumor in the colon.

The former striker underwent surgery on September 4 to remove this tumor and spent several days in the Intensive Care Unit, where he recovered satisfactorily.

However, shortly after he was put on the ward, his evolution was interrupted by “brief respiratory instability,” which is why he was transferred to semi-intensive care, according to the latest medical bulletin.

After that episode, Pele reported the day before through his social networks that he continues to recover “very well” and that he continues to “smile every day”, in an attempt to once again reassure his followers.

The football king’s health has deteriorated in recent years due to spinal, hip and knee problems that have significantly reduced his mobility and forced him to undergo surgery, as well as suffering from some kidney crises. (ESPNDEPORTES)
