Barcelona center-back Gerard Piqué will not be able to be in the crucial Champions League match against Dinamo Kiev on Tuesday after confirming his right leg muscle injury.
“The tests carried out this morning have shown that he has an elongation in the soleus of the right leg,” Barça reported this Sunday in a statement.
The Barça defender had to retire on Saturday in the 70th minute of the match that Barça drew 1-1 against Alavés, being replaced by Clément Lenglet.
The Barça team does not specify the time of absence, limiting itself to stating that its “evolution will mark availability”.
However, this type of injury usually requires between five and ten days of recovery, which makes it unfeasible for the player to be on Tuesday at the Olympic in Kiev for a crucial Champions League match.
Barcelona, after starting their continental journey suffering 3-0 defeats against Bayern and Benfica, are in third position in group E with three points, one from Benfica, who is second, and six from the German leader.
Barcelona urgently needs victory to stay in the fight for the first two places that give access to the round of 16 of the continental tournament. AFP (HN)
