A goal in added time by Damian Szymanski cut the streak of England (1-1), which had the victory in hand with the goal of Harry Kane but which ended up frustrated in Warsaw after the draw that maintains the qualifying expectations of Poland for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
England was left without a plenary session. Gareth Southgate’s team had an impeccable course on the World Cup journey, with four wins in four other games. However, a last minute setback put an end to the great English trajectory that maintains the dominance of their group towards the World Cup.
The balance marked the duel with chances for both sides but the clash was shaken in the final stretch, with the order unleashed and the fastest transitions towards one goal or another.
English talent marked the beginning of the denouement. Kane brought a ball from Kyle Walker into the net. England had the game in hand and also the classification.
Portuguese Paulo Sousa shook the bench in search of solutions that he only found at the end, desperately, when his team shot epic and looked for Robert Lewandowski, without a goal this time.
However, the Bayern forward appeared in his team’s goal. He sent the ball to Szymanski and the AEK Athens midfielder beat Jordan Pickford to equalize.
The scoreboard leaves England as the dominator of Group I with four points ahead of Albania, second, and five points over Poland.
