Pope Francis receives WBC belt from incumbent Mauricio Sulaimán

Pope Francis, who will visit Mexico from February 12 to 17, received a World Boxing Council belt from its president, Mexican Mauricio Sulaimán, the body reported today.
The CMB, based in Mexico City, circulated a note to the media in which it explained that its leader gave the highest representative of the Catholic Church the classic green and gold sash.
“The green and gold belt for the world champion of goodness, virtue and hope,” read the note that was accompanied by a photograph in which Francisco held the title that Sulaimán Saldívar handed him.
In October 2013, the pope received, during a Wednesday general audience, the then WBC middleweight world champion, Argentine Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez.
On that occasion, Martínez gave the pontiff a World Champion belt from the Council, which included the photos of the pope and the Vatican flag on one side and that of the Argentine coat of arms and that of the boxer on the other.
On his way through Mexico, Francisco will visit Mexico City, the municipality of Ecatepec (State of Mexico, center), Tuxtla Gutiérrez and San Cristobal de las Casas (Chiapas, south).
Then he will go to Morelia (Michoacán, center) and finally he will visit Ciudad Juárez (Chihuahua, north), from where he will depart back to the Vatican. EFE
