Austrian defender Davd Alaba, the only Real Madrid signing so far in this summer market, has tested positive for covid-19, as reported by his club.
“Real Madrid CF communicates that our player David Alaba has tested positive for COVID-19”, is included in the brief statement from the Madrid club.
Alaba was presented as a new Real Madrid player on July 21, starting training under Carlo Ancelotti a day later. This morning he did not participate in the team’s preparatory session as he attended the relevant PCR test.
Last Friday, Real Madrid confirmed that French striker Karim Benzema had tested positive for COVID-19, something that the first Madrid squad already suffered in the 2020-21 season with the cases of Toni Kross, Militao, Casemiro, Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Nacho Fernández, Raphael Varane, Sergio Ramos and Fede Valverde.
