The English Premier League reported 40 cases of the coronavirus among players and team personnel on Tuesday in the two rounds of tests carried out last week.
The number of cases doubled the highest peak of positives in a week since diagnostic testing began when the tournament resumed last June. He noted that the number of tests was greater than in the previous weeks.
Three Premier League games were postponed last week due to multiple positive results after Manchester City-Fulham. The postponed duels were Everton-Manchester City, Tottenham-Fulham and Burnley-Fulham.
