PSG confirms that Messi and Neymar will not play against Clermont

Paris Saint-Germain will not be able to count on their South American internationals, back from qualifying for the Qatar-2022 World Cup, including Neymar and Lionel Messi, for Saturday’s duel against Clermont, coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed this Friday.

“Leandro Paredes, Ángel Di María, Neymar and Leo Messi, for reasons of common sense, will not be with the team tomorrow,” said the Argentine coach at the press conference prior to the match of the fifth day of Ligue 1.

Forward Kylian Mbappé, with discomfort in a calf, resumed training and could play, said ‘Poche’.

“Mbappé trained, he is recovering from the physical problem he had with his team and we will see tomorrow if he is available,” said Pochettino.

Defender Presnel Kimpembe, who played all three games for the French national team, and Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, back from a shoulder injury, also trained on Friday.

“Let’s hope they are available tomorrow,” said the technician.

Italian Marco Verratti is out due to knee problems and Spaniard Sergio Ramos has his evolution slowed down by a calf problem and “next week he will resume his individual training on the field,” the club said.
