Puerto Rican boxer Amanda Serrano will debut in March in mixed martial arts
Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano, six times world champion in five divisions of the boxing professional, will debut in March in mixed martial arts in the United States.
“Final and firm, I will be making my debut in March,” Serrano said in a press release issued today by his representatives.
The young athlete indicated that her plan in mixed martial arts was to debut in February, but she was offered a fight of boxing for the world title of the World Organization of Boxing (WBO) on January 20 in Brooklyn, New York, “but unfortunately no opponents appeared.”
She said her plan was to fight Argentina’s Ana Laura Esteche, WBO 140-pound champion and thus try to become champion in six divisions, but the South American did not defend her crown for 180 days and, by regulation, left it vacant.
«If most of the boxers don’t want to fight me, then in the Octagon I’m sure that all of them are going to want to fight me without much thought. Well, I hope so ”, emphasized Serrano.
Serrano is the first and only professional boxer to have been a world champion in five divisions: 118, 122, 126, 130 and 135 pounds.
Amanda Serrano and her older sister Cindy, the current WBO 126-pound world champion, are the first and only sister world champions simultaneously in the history of the boxing female professional. EFE
