Rays trade Adames to Brewers

The Tampa Bay Rays agreed to transfer Dominican shortstop Willy Adames to the Milwaukee Brewers, both Major League Baseball franchises announced on Friday.

Adames is the most important piece of an operation in which the Rays, runners-up from the last World Series, also send minor league pitcher Trevor Richards to the Brewers, who in exchange deliver minor league right-handers Drew Rasmussen and JP Feyereisen. .

At 25, Adames has been a starting shortstop for Tampa Bay the past three seasons, but his performance has waned this season.

In 41 games played, the shortstop has a .197 batting average with five home runs.

The Rays, second in the East Division of the American League, have to replace him with the American Taylor Walls and the young Dominican promise Wander Franco, 20 years old. (GG) (AFP)
